Hi everyone!
My name is Jean and I've been on a raw food/vegan diet for 2 months now. I have
a 2 3/4 year old who I'm trying to bring over to this way of eating (his name
is also Andrew) and a 4 1/2 month old (Matthew) who is on only breastmilk (he
tried - and loved - carrot juice the other day, though). My husband has no trouble
with me eating this way - and with me feeding the children this way - he, however,
still wants his meat, dairy, beer, etc . . . He IS eating a salad everyday -
so it's a start.
My question for Lisa is . . . how old is your Andrew? It seems I'll be able
to recreate your success with my second child since he's so young - and has
been on only raw foods since birth.
However, I've been having a lot of trouble with my toddler. He wants his Oreos,
etc. I have been able to get him to eat raw fruits, but raw vegetables aren't
happening yet. He loves grains and would be happy eating pasta all day. I now
have him eating whole wheat pasta and whole wheat graham crackers and almond
butter/fruit preserves on whole wheat bread, but I REALLY want to get more raw
food in his diet (my own is about 75% raw right now). He's not interested in
the carrot juice we make everyday either. At least he loves water (we give him
distilled water all day long). He's on the slender side (36 inches tall, 27
pounds), so I'm worried about cutting out too much food too quickly.
Has anyone gone through this already who can offer some advice?
Thanks so much!
Jean
