Dear JR,
Hello! What a story! I have been clean/sober for 5 years now, AA and NA. I am going slow on raw foods. I am about 70% now. In the past I went nn it, all raw, all at one time , and it was not a success,, too fast,, too many cleaninng reactions, so this time, I am goingo use the old noggin', and do it intuitively, sanely.
Your story is inspiriing, please keep up the goodwork!
                        YOurs truly, Michael

It is nice to see interest in this subject, I have studied medical nutrition, and have always argued about this issue, I have always wanted to write a book on my reasearch and findings the last 20 years, do you think this would be of interest?

ther seems to be a contradiction between dr howell and the bibleconcerning the use of grains and nuts in our diet.genesis 1:29 states. behold i have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of the earth.and everytree in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed.to you it shall be for food.
then after the fall of man vegetable was added as seen in the last part of gen 3:18....and thou shall eat the herb of the field. which was the food of animals. dr howell says the grains and nuts has enzymes inhibitors, which nutralize the bodys natural enzymes. and suggest the way to eat such foods, is to sprout them. yet it seem.that there is no edividence that god gave adam and eve instruction to sprout, or to cook their food, yet before the flood human kind was living for hundreds of years on a meatless, and cook less diet.

Dear Heide, my former name was Tauchen and I found your Web-site very zufällig heute on Dec. 19 th 2002. I must say I am overwhelmed what you are doing.

I was in an accident in 1977 and pronunced brain dead. After ten months in the hospital I was discharged. Around 1980 I became a vegetarian and I started doing better. Next I became a vegan and my healh rally improved. Now I am walking again thankful for the Natural Hygenists that i met and learnt about food from. They helped to creat the bigest changers in my life. I know diet may be a big factor in regaining health but I also know that what I think and do about exercise in my life are a big part of getting well also.
I would like to read your postings and find a person or people to converse with through e-mail but I cant type very good. But now that I have found your site I will be back when I become more computer literate and learn how to type beter. Living in the country with few people nearby, and no vegetarians or vegans around is no help to get healthy.
Sincerly,
John Mayo

I've been on the fence for about 45 days now and know that, during that time, when i was completely raw (about 22 days), i felt amazing. It was like my body woke up and said "hey! chris, listen cat, dont turn back now, i feel great." i've eaten some dead food since then but not much. I think I've finally found the fuel for my universe-vehicle. Peace and persimmons.

Thanks for telling your story. I've been clean and sober in AA for 23 years and have been studying and experimenting with raw foods for about 4 months. I'm convinced this is the diet for me. I've observed that my addiction to cooked foods, grain, etc., is every bit as powerful as any other addiction I have had. Good luck in your new start on raw foods. Day at a time.

I found you while searcing for Essie Honnibal, she lives a couple of villages further inland. Was actually looking for information on the difference between barley green and wheatgrass (dried) as I have found a source for wheatgrass in New Zealand. Barleygreen is freely available here. Did make a lot of fresh wheatgrass when my mother had cancer- she had 4 years of relative health after being diagnosed and operated etc. Died when she was 72 but also used dr Winters herbs and pao d'arco from Brazil- it was not available in pillform yet. We are vegetarians in the process of becoming vegans. I receive the newsletter from Rev G Malkmus and have acces to the tapes (she is also on www) of dr Lorraine Day. Greetings, Adelheid.

Thanks you so much for this fab web site. I appreciate the time and energy that has gone into all the recipes and advice. I just hope I have the time (and motivation to try them all) - yeah, when pigs fly:-) I just have a really bad habit - I tend to stick to the same familiar rceipes and recyle them in 9999 different varieties which of course change seasonally. It's only when I am screaminginly bored with everything in life (including my food) that I will try something new and yummy. Well this site gives me the chance to do that! thanks.

Well done - your story touches me - I battle with procrastination - like I only get things done when the asunder#$% hits the fan - your list of steps is inspirational - particularly the restitution bit and remaining "current" in one's life. I have a great desire to be "in touch" with my inner/greater being - my faith means a lot - my life must become far simpler and basic than it is - people must matter far more than things - I wish you strength and inner peace in your journey - thanks for sharing .

Interesting, informative and entertaining site! Haven't explored it all yet, but I will. I'll have to come back again. So, what is your first name then, and are you really comfortable working lying down ?(couldn't help giggling when I saw that photo). Do you really eat 100% raw? I'd say I eat about 90% raw and regret every transgression afterwards because I get uncomfortable and bloated. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Edda

Just visited your site for the first time (10/15/02). Read your comix (v.funny), listened to the Randy Savage segment (a panic), checked out your historical time-line (v.well detailed - and funny, although personally I find that evolution/big bang (call it what you will) takes more faith than believing in God and Creationism), and next decided to read your personal history. I was awe struck. By the candor. By the guts. By the gut-wrenching, soul-searching that I caught a momentary glimpse of thru reading your fiery trial. By the raw truth (forgive the pun) you sought to share. I wish you success and happiness in all your endeavors. May your convictions give you the strength to endure and succeed.

Thanks for the great job you're doing with your site and newsgroups. I've been lurking behind the scenes for some time. NOW I am truly ready to make the transition -- actually, my life is depending on it!
I'm a 47 year-old, 6'6" tall, 326 pound, out of shape African-American guy! I'm sure I'll be dead soon if I don't turn this around. I have children, a wife, and other family, and I'm not being fair or setting a good example for them...
I really appreciate the work you're doing, and hope now to find someone, a coach, guide, teacher, friend who can help me!
God bless You!

I know a woman who decided to go raw. She also imposed this lifestyle on her 5 year old daughter. I saw the daughter who had gray teeth and was losing hair. The little girl craved french fries and told me she threw up after her mom gave her wheat grass. For snacks the little girl was given figs and carrot sticks. She had diarrhea. I think the woman can do what she wants for herself, but she should FEED her kid! This girl was NOT well.

I recently learned about Google, was playing with it, and found you again! It is good to know that you are out and about, living a good life. I hope that you found the job you were looking for. If you ever need a character reference, we can attest to that. Russ is fine. He built his own website, www.russjobinart.com. Considering he knew nothing about computers, he did a pretty good job. I'm currently working on a fundraiser for a Latina organization that I belong to. We have a mentoring program and are partners with a scholarship foundation. I'm also helping a friend of mine who is running for city council in Santa Ana. He is young, idealistic and energetic. Why he wants to go into politics is beyond me. Russ and I like him alot, so we help him when we can. I hope everything is going well for you. I really enjoy your letters and e-mails. Don't forget, if you ever come this way again, let us know. It would be good to see you again.
Take care,

I am very interseted in learning more about eating a raw food diet. I have already read quite a bit and am practicing it to a great extent. It is still very challenging since we entertain frequently. I would like to find some more good recipes. I am a vegetarian and am striving to be a vegan. I am also learning about food combining. Do others who follow a raw food diet food combine??? Would like to hear from others new to this way of eating and succeeding at making the change.

Watch out! I was a vegetarian for 9 years and I developed iron-deficiency anemia. I simply wasn't doing a good job replacing my iron intake with vegetable-based iron sources. The problem is that, although you can get iron in spinach, legumes, oysters(for us fish eaters), and other sources, you have to watch out because tea and other foods inhibit body's absorption of iron. Just be careful and research!!!- happy eating!

I have been dianosed as having sleep apnia and I have had it all my life. I go to sleep and do not move till I wake the next morning feeling very stiff. I feel that I have CSA which doctors do not know anthing about so they can not treat it as well as the OSA which they are going to try and treat. It took a long time to get the Doctors to listen to me and my problems, but I can not blame the doctors too much as they can not treat anything they do not know exhists. Nightmares are also one part of sleep apnia and the feeling of being awake and not being able to move. This happens from time to time and it is very scary to lie there and not be able to move or say anything. It is like being in a coma. I can here anything that is happening in the room but can not comunicate. If anyone has any information on CSA (central sleep apnia) I would appreciate any help
Thank you Denis

I have been suffering from an underactive thyroid for several years. I went off of my medication (sythroid) for about three months and became really ill. My co-workers told my boss I looked "ill" and I felt worse-so I got back on the meds. When I did my voice came back. I have been eating as much raw as I can stand and it is not easy for me since I have been on the SAD diet for 35 years. I began reading everything I could find on raw foods and healing. I believe that my 5th chackra is blocked thus causing my thyroid to be underactive. I am not sure where to go now and have some fears about total raw foodism for me due to the social acceptence and weight loss as I am tall and thin as it is. I do not want to be on these meds "all of my life" and do not think that the doctors know everything. I do believe people and the spirit and the diet can cure and heal all dis-ease. I do believe it is a question of taking the exact correct steps to purify the mind body and soul to heal properly. Any advice or help on healing and the thyroid would be helpfull. It is a crappy thing to deal with since it makes mea feel slugish and "old." It drains your "chi" or life force and nobody should have to live this way. It gives the person suffering from this the same side effects as chronic fatigue syndrom I do believe. I believe in David Wolfe's teachings and that it starts in the mind. No amount of organic plant food will heal you if you do not put the rest of your house in order-I.M.H.O.

Why don´t you try potatoes for example, combined with a balanced pasta meal.good luck on your nutritional trip. Bon apettite! (or howwever you guys write it)

You have a cool website ... why do I feel that in Auguest when I go to write you that you will be on vacation for August-September? ... I dunno, just a hunch. The raw food stuff is cool, let me thank you in advance for all the inflamation. I liked the comedy routein and the self defacating humor, but the punkin was worth a thousand words plus some profanitary explinations. Good luck with all your stuff

“Raw food diet increases life expectancy”
If this would be proven by a scientific study, then the media would eventually bring this to the general public. All we need to do, is to find students / scientists that can do the required tests. So, I’m asking everybody with a raw food site to devote some web-space to call for people who are willing to do the tests. There are plenty of scientists / students that want to have their tests (with ‘spectacular results’) published in scientific articles.
One needs 2 groups of young mice; one group is fed a raw-food diet, while the other group is fed exactly the same feedings, but cooked for about 20 minutes. The tests will show that the raw food mice live longer than the cooked food mice.
What you need to be able to do the (animal-friendly) tests, to low costs:
- room for a few cages.
- young mice, post weaning
- raw mice feedings
- about 4 years of feeding the mice daily
Additionally, the mice that have died can be autopsied, so that people know what (deadly) diseases are caused by cooked foods.
Thank you for your time,
RRM

Dear Bob:
I read over your website and will subscribe very soon.
I was searching to look up Dr. Bernarr Zovluck, and there you have him in many of your letters.
I read briefly about him in The Sunfood Diet Success System book on page 243.
I would like to get in contact with him if you would please pass on my request so that I may write or talk with him this week or near future, if at all possible. I would like to contact him first before any ohter people you might suggest, and take any suggestions from him. Perhaps he knows someone I can contact in my area, or perhaps I can just consult him since he is mentioned as being helpful in directing detoxification in combination with highblood sugar.
I am interested in gathering more information about detoxification and arresting a possible onset of some sort of diabetes or high blood sugar.
Also, since I came across your newletter, while looking for Dr.Zovluck, I would be very interested in subscribing for it. I must have upset my system in the process of trying to transission from a SAD diet to the rawfood and not being very efficient at it and grasping everything, plus going back and forth, I really got my system out of balance. Now, I'm facing a blood sugar test after 6 months of havoc. Over the past two days, the dark greens, EFA's and lightly mixing in a small amount of un-hybridized fruit seems to have calmed it down a bit. Now I dred going to the lab and consuming 75grms of sugar just for a test.
But I definately need the help. These MD's haven't been able to diagnos the reason for my symptoms yet, neither has my nutritionist mentioned that it may be a possibility. Anyway, I have so many resources, that it is high time I start putting the right ones to use and get better with the right instruction. I may try and consult with David Wolfe eventually. Also, what do you think about Bio-Data Herb Co./Creative Health Ventures in Douglas City, CA. They are supposed to be excellent in both detoxing and balancing the body.
By the way, what do you think of the new Penta brand water? (Purified 7+ times)
It's supposed to hydrate the body better than standard bottled or tap water.

Interesting article. I started on a raw food diet recently and have not felt healthy most of the time. The friend who got me started on raw foods stated that maybe I should eat meat "once in a while" because I was probably not getting enough nutrients, etc....you know the speech. Anyway, your article was timely as I don't want to return to eating flesh of any kind, I think my body is just feeling the effects of food transition plus probably cleaning out toxic waste. I know I am on the right path and it just makes sense to not destroy the food before we eat it. Your article was encouraging, so thank you for taking the time to write. Olga

Dear Victoras, Read your book 21 century in the late 70's. Stuck to me. that time I thought you were a kook. Still do. Except that now I realize I also am in the same category. "Seditionist" the government has labeled those like me because I have discovered how to think. They are in the business of herding cattle. Thinkers are to costly - screw up the works. How are you?
I remember you said you grew two new sets of teeth. How did that come to pass?
If you have the time to answer, would appreciate. Love, Rita

I enjoyed your article - 4 points made about the rationale for eating a Living Foods diet. I have been close for about two years now, but have never been able to go completely raw. I eat a lot of fruit, nuts, and sprouts, but also eat homemade Essene Bread (Sprouted, cooked under 200 for 2 hours), and a few ounces of fish or poultry every few days. It's hard to let go completely, especially when friends or family insist that those things are necessary for protien needs. Have a wonderful day!

Do appreciate your site, just turning my life around to become vegan...find I feel so much better on the days that I stay totally Vegan. I have been diagnosed as egg intolerant and goodness did that change my life. Dairy has been a problem for me but ate anyway because it was a staple in my life as were the eggs.
Thanks again.

I found a copy of The Essene Gospels of Peace and read it over the weekend. It made such a impact with me that I have decided to try to follow its practices. My first step was to discontinue eating meat of all kinds. I realize it will be a process, but this is something I feel I have to do. It will be hard.
I am now in search of the other three books. Can you tell me where I may be able to purchase them?

Very new to the concept of raw food. Totally accept the logic of it all. Been a Vegetarian Times subscriber for many years. Am in the process of moving away from processed food. Google gave me a wonderful list to search. Yours was the 2nd site I checked out. I went to the recipes 1st thing. LOVE them! The holiday "sabotage" story was perfect! Your site is not snobby gormet, or radical/militant, or preachy. Its very friendly and I will be back often. Thank you for making this effort that much easier.

Wonderful site! Thanks for setting it up and maintaining it so well. Have enjoyed all the messages I've read and the whole idea.
Been mostly raw now for almost 1.5 years.
Was inspired by Ric Lambart, who I met in California over a year ago, to try for eating a higher percentage of raw vegan foods.
Keep up the good work with this site!

Just wondering if anyone has recently dealt with Gerson Institute in San Diego. I am scheduled for 10 days starting 3/13/2002 to learn all about their nutritional therapy for treatment of lupus. Not too thrilled with conventional medicine at this point. Was diagnosed April 2001. Thanks and God Bless.

 Hi Victor,
It is tremendous pleasure signing your Guestbook. I am fast becoming a raw foodist after eating a cooked vegan diet for eleven years now. Write back with words of inspiration. Take care of yourself.

I enjoyed reading the reviews about various juicer types. I find it interesting because I have a cheap department store juicer, and I juce for my husband, who takes very poor care of himself, yet I do not feel the urge to juice for myself, perhaps because of some of the health reaasons listed against these types of centrufigal juicers. I initially came for an essene bread recipe. Thanks, I will try your recipes.

Is it possible to live on a one food diet? I'm toying with the idea of living on wheat sprouts and wheatgrass juice exclusively. The mummies tombs contained wheat berries that were still alive, all the other seeds found had turned to dust or were petrified. Any comments?

I get on the bulletin board there alot and communicate with people from all over. I've learned alot and recieve alot of encouragement when I need it. Tis pretty cool!!

Brother Vic!!!!! I am 21 years old. My mother and father have known about the "diet" for over 20 years. My brother and myself have grown in this environment. My parents decided when we were very small to NOT incorporate any animal products in our diet. My brother John and myself, have never opened the fridge to find any red meat, chicken or fish. My father, the wisest man I have ever known has studied, followed and praised your writings for years, along with Ann Wigmore, Hilton Hotema, Raymond Bernhard and others that I am about to dip into at 21. My father thinks that every home should be equipped with Survival Into the 21st Century. He has spread the word to alot of people with health problems that have done everything that they were taught, including medical doctors, and brought hope and optimism into their lives with the Raw Food Diet. My mother is a very clairavoyant women and her and my father have sprouts growing everyday. As a child, I remember my father incorporating into our diet, this strong tasting green liquid, that today I have come to know as Wheatgrass juice.
Because though, we didn't have any meat in our diet, my brother and I, ate alot of starches growing up that has caught up to me at the age of 21. I'm starting very slowly and thinking optimistic. My father is helping me with my problems, he has given me books, a juicer, an emema bag, and a transition diet for right now. He says that it takes time to bring the body back to health, and I must take it slow. Right now I'm incorporating greens, sprouts, juices into my diet, but not wheatgrass just yet. He says that I must not jump into it to fast but slowly to get my body adapted to this change, and very soom hope to have wheatgrass in my daily life. We love you Dr. Vic, and hope the very best for you, and we thank you for giving us hope and such valuable information that will be passed down in our family for generations. Peace.

I am just starting on my raw food eating program. I have been vegetarian for many years and have eaten mostly raw foods, but now I'm trying to not eat the soy etc. It is difficult here in Canada because there is not a lot available (so we do the best we can), and it is cold in the winter to eat raw all the time, relying on cayenne and ginger to heat things up a bit.
I'm only 3 weeks into the new eating plan, hoping I can do everything right. I am getting several recipe books and looking on the Net for recipes but most are not very appetizing. Oh yes, I also avoid Garlic and Onions which cuts down on the flavoring in the recipes. However, my spiritual path doesn't include garlic or onions and I haven't eaten them for years - instead I use a lot of cilantro and ginger, salted black beans and several oriental type spices.
Thanks for your website.

Greetings from downunder,
I did indeed enjoy the 3 books that I had obtained, translated by Edmond Szekely,as well as for the " good " work that he had put into these translations from the Scrolls of past times, so to speak. I did find that The Essene Jesus was indeed more closer to the truths than what I have read in pass times and to the now timeframe, of the present. Espranto is an ancient language of it's own to where the Aramic derives from orginally as with the other languages of evolution or pro-creation however one wishes to interpretate the meaning. It is very hard to find a copy of the Espranto language that you advertise in these books little lone put one's hand on one. Will you be also adding this to your website in the future ?. Thankyou indeed for yor time and this beautiful website. With deepest regards Chris.

Dear Meredith,
I recently took a trip to the health food store, and picked up a book called "Raw Foodist Propaganda." It was written by Joe Alexander. In it he mentions a raw food recipe book for 365 days, by John Tobe. As I am interested in the raw food thing, I would like to get this book, but I have been unable to find it. Do you know where I could purchase this book?

It is encouraging to witness people attempting to do good work and make right the wrongs that have become so prevelant in contemporary society. I'm glad that there are at least a few that are comitted to natural sense. Unfortunately mainstream foundational knowledge and related structure and activity is currently so destructive that further carnage is eminant we know. I hope that out of the destruction will arise a greater return to relatively dormant truths that foster the avoidence of the rampant mainstream foolishness of the past and present. So for what it's worth I encourage you and those close to you to keep vigorous the efforts re disseminating of good information and the helping of any who are open to good natural sense.

I am just beginning reading about Stanley Burroughs. I will be starting the Master Cleanser diet today. If you do not mind, I will sometimes write you to find out
about your progress and maybe ask you questions - if needed- if that is OK with you.
Avec u prénom comme Annette, peut-être parles-tu français?
See you soon and thank you for your comment.
